Problem statement
Our Solution
Households in the urban slums of India remain trapped in intergenerational poverty, with some families living in the same slum for over 35 years. They struggle with extremely low incomes, little to no social security, and widespread health issues, including malnutrition and stunted growth.
This cycle of deprivation disproportionately affects girls and women, leaving most girls out of school with little to no aspirations for education or a career. Despite numerous interventions by various non-profits, these efforts have largely been short-term, failing to create lasting improvements in their standard of living.

Ekarishi Foundation is committed to working with these households over the long term (8-10 years) to help them break free from chronic poverty. By placing girls at the center of our efforts, we strive to empower them with education, skills, and opportunities, creating a ripple effect that uplifts their families and the broader community. Through sustained engagement, we aim to drive lasting change that goes beyond short-term interventions.
Our Approach
Our approach is built on long-term engagement (8-10 years per family) to ensure they can break free from chronic poverty. This sustained support is complemented by targeted short-term interventions as needed to address immediate challenges and reinforce lasting change.
